If you knew what I knew
you would know how I have cried
If you knew what I knew
you would know I did not try
If you stood in my shoes
you would know how hard I fall
If you felt what I feel
you would know I feel it all
If you cared how I cared
you would know I care too much
If you thought how I thought
you would know I messed it up
If you knew what I knew
you would know what I foretell
If you knew what I knew
we would know each other well

Wow Suzanne, that is amazing. Did you write that? I'd like to know more about this poem, the meaning of it, where it came from. Care o share?
Thanks! I did write this and the one below. I was just feeling a little misunderstood that day and suddenly felt like I "had" to write a poem about it. Sure enough, I felt better as soon as it was done. I was feeling a little like if we all walked in each others shoes for a bit, we would all really know each other and know where we were all coming from.
I absolutely agree with you. Those are the times I write poetry as well - moments when I feel like I "have" to, like you said.
Thanks for explaining the meaning behind it.
